October 28th to 30th saw the 2019 (ISC)2 Congress hit the magical word of Walt Disney World in Florida for 3 days of inspirational speakers, entertaining shows and thought-provoking seminars. With over 2,500 attendees, including 150 students, there was a little bit of something for everyone!
The inspirational key notes included Capt. “Sully” Sullenberger, who ever so eloquently articulated how he called upon his mental resilience to avert certain aviation disaster, through to Erik Wahl who portrayed (literally) how to abstract creativity that is within each and every one of us and apply this rule-breaking thinking to the world of security.
(ISC)2 London Chapter President, James Packer, attended the congress and took to opportunity to challenge (ISC)2 leadership on their road map to enhance (ISC)2 value outside of North America, to attend other Chapters’ meetings to gain insight and of course, have a go at crafting a lightsaber in one of the many Disney Parks! James’ summary on his time at Congress is:
The Congress in Florida was by far, the best (ISC)2 event I have been to to-date. It was an event that every single attendee without doubt achieved at least one thing they set out to, because it was an event of seemingly endless opportunity. I would actively encourage any and all (ISC)2 members, world-wide, if you find yourself with the opportunity to attend a future Congress, do so, you will certainly take away more than you arrived with, be it knowledge or souvenirs!
