After studying Politics and Economics at Newcastle University\, he joined Google in 2005 as one of the earliest European employees working on the Google Ad Platform and Google Analytics. \nAfter Google\, he founded Qubit\, a leading SaaS company in the e-commerce space\, providing AI personalized shopping recommendations to over one billion users per month across more than 300 leading brands such as Louis Vuitton\, Estée Lauder and TK Maxx. He sold Qubit to Coveo Solutions in 2021 shortly before going public on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and remains a strategic advisor at Coveo. This perspective can be helpful in understanding the challenges and opportunities of AI\, as well as how to develop AI systems that are secure\, ethical\, and beneficial. In this session\, we will discuss the role of cybernetics in the development and evolution of AI. We will then explore the risks and opportunities of AI-based systems and applications and current trends. Finally\, we will discuss techniques to develop safe and ethical AI and explore the future of AI from a cybernetic point of view. \nPresenter bio: Omar is a cybernetics engineer and cloud security specialist at Google with over 20 years of experience in helping organisations design and build secure solutions. He has a deep understanding of security risks and threats\, and he is passionate about using technology to improve security. \nOmar has worked in a variety of security roles\, including security research and pen testing\, security operations\, security architect\, and security leadership. He has held senior security positions at Deloitte\, KPMG\, HSBC\, OneWeb\, and GFT. \nOmar is also an active member of the security community. He is a founding member and Membership Chair of the ISC(2) London Chapter\, and he has spoken at several security conferences and events.
